Why invest in an inspection?

You have to ask yourself, "If I don't have an inspection, I'll save about $300, but what will it cost me?"

You see, during most inspections, I find anywhere from $500—$70,000 (yes, you're reading that correctly) worth of repair work to be negotiated as a direct result of the inspection. In reality, the inspection is costing you nothing; it saves you money almost every time. From failed siding, broken furnaces, leaky roofs, failed retaining walls, electrical problems . . . wouldn't you prefer to find these items out before buying the house so you can negotiate with the seller while you still have the upper hand?
